james-carter-guitarJames Carter is an award-winning children’s poet – as well as a non-fiction and educational writer. He is the author of 15 popular and best-selling poetry titles, and he travels all over to give lively poetry/guitar performances and workshops. James has visited over 1200 schools in the last fourteen years! His ambition? To leave a real buzz for writing in every school.

One of the most high-profile children’s poets in the UK, James is a regular visitor to the Roald Dahl Museum, and he has also performed at various prestigious festivals, including Cheltenham, Hay and Edinburgh.

His collections of children’s poems include Journey To The Centre Of My Brain, Time-Travelling Underpants (both Macmillan), Cars, Stars, Electric Guitars (Walker Books) and The World’s Greatest Space Cadet (Bloomsbury).

James’ poetry collections for younger readers include the brand new Zim Zam Zoom! (Otter-Barry Books) as well as Hey Little Bug! (Junior magazine’s Book Of The Month) and I’m A Little Alien! (Books For Keeps magazine’s Book Of The Week). James was the major contributor of poetry materials to the BBC CBeebies TV series, Poetry Pie and Magic Fingers.

James’ critically-acclaimed creative writing books for teachers include Just Imagine and Creating Writers (Taylor & Francis) – his latest is Let’s Do Poetry In Primary Schools (Bloomsbury) and was given the Primary Teacher Update magazine Silver Award.
