Joshua Seigal

Joshua Seigal imageProfessional poet Joshua Seigal spends his days enthusing children up and down the country about literacy in general and poetry in particular. He has taken two critically-acclaimed shows to Edinburgh Fringe festival and was hailed by Three Weeks Edinburgh Festivals review as “exactly the kind of person to interest young children in poetry: performing without many of the assumed staples of successful children’s theatre, such as special effects or crude jokes, he nonetheless succeeds in gripping his small audience.”

As well as festival appearances, Joshua is a regular visitor to schools and runs workshops with children from Reception to Key Stage Two. He can also tailor his workshops; he has held sessions ‘enthusing boys about literacy’ as well as sessions for gifted and talented writers. Joshua has been known to move teachers to tears during his school visits (although always in a good way, he assures us).

Joshua is particularly well-placed to enthuse children about the joys of poetry; as a child he studied poetry at school but didn’t feel that the words were jumping off the page, speaking to him. His love of poetry grew over time and he’s keen to show children that poetry can be entertaining and inspiring. Follow the link for more information about Joshua’s school visits.
