Book Events for Schools is a new venture from the team behind the Book Events for Children website, which provides information about book-related events for children across the country. The Book Events for Children website lists and promotes events at libraries, bookshops, book-related attractions and literary festivals, as well as theatre adaptations of popular children’s books. In addition to highlighting events, the site also features interviews with popular figures from the children’s book industry, including Jacqueline Wilson, The Sunday Times’ children’s book editor Nicolette Jones and leading children’s playwright, David Wood OBE.

The ‘Book Events …’ group was founded by Clare Burkhill-Howarth. As a parent of three young children, Clare was inspired to create the website – and active social media accounts – after hearing about great author events…only AFTER they’d taken place.

Book Events for Schools was originally established to link authors and illustrators across Yorkshire and the north of England with schools in that area. However, the popularity of the venture means that we welcome enquiries from schools across the country and our authors are very happy to travel to visit schools.

As well as organising author visits to schools, we are happy to arrange visits to libraries or literary festivals. Alternatively, you might be interested in an author visiting your community organisation, such as Brownies, Rainbows, Cubs and Beaver groups.
